“Art is the demonstration that
the ordinary is extraordinary”
— Amédée Ozenfant
Hi! I’m Samantha!
I am a surface designer, illustrator, and photographer from the deep South now living in the wild West. I spend most of my time in my studio at home drawing and developing film with my tuxedo cat, Oreo, by my side. My illustrations & patterns are inspired by nature, architecture, historical art movements, and my love of order and organization.
My art is heavily influenced by the world around me, and my desire to “fit it into a box-like shape.” Geometric shapes are my tool of choice when building objects and patterns, and I use color to give it a soft and feminine touch.
Nothing is worth more than laughter. It is strength to laugh and to abandon oneself, to be light. Tragedy is the most ridiculous thing.”
- Frida Kahlo
I received my BFA in Fine Arts with concentrations in Graphic Design and Photography in 2018, and three months after graduation underwent an operation that left me in a hospital for almost three months. After a two year recovery, I set out to find a different artistic path for myself that would give me freedom to create anywhere, including my home. I enjoy designing artwork for products from stationery to home decor, and creating surface patterns gives me a special challenge that allows me to tap into my love of order and utilize it to produce something beautiful.
